To be honest , I am very much looking forward to this website, where I expect an unbiased and purely artistic and philosophical presentation and review of Ghani’s work.

It would be a great addition if not only literary but also philosophical reviews and exchange of Ghani’s work can be presented in here. As there are few people who can understand or even imagine the real essence of his poetry.

Many more people will switch onto here to get a guideline to Ghani’s work.

    salam.

i am looking forward to this website. i am a big fan of Ghani khan and his poetry.
I live in london, and it is very hard to find many pashto books here. so it will be great for people like me who want to read ghani khan’s poetry and don’t have access to it.

good luck and keep up the good work.

    To Who it may concer,
I am extremly happy to have the chance to write my views here on this page as a big fan of late Mr. Ghani Khan Saheeb.
He was a legendary Pashto Poet and he is still consider as a great poet among all Pashtons across the border.
May his soul rest in peace.
I have recently visited this great web site and I was able to find much more then I have expected.
I hope those who are behind this wonderful scheme should arrange more information regarding music and poetry.
May God bless all of you.
    With Sincer regards,

    Greetings
I would like to extend my appreciation to the owner of this website for designing and maintain such an amazing website. Ghani Khan poetry has inspired me personally to learn more about my mother language. He is the greatest poet of his generation. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Sardar Ali Takkar who introduce me to Ghani Khan poetry. Long Live Pukhto.

I am very pleased to see a website on so wonderful a man as Ghani Khan. However, I am sorry to see that the author has simply copied an interview I did with Ghani Khan some years ago, and used it without attribution on this website. If this is an inadvertent error, I understand, but if not, I doubt that Ghani Khan would approve of this kind of copyright violation. Please see http://www.harappa.com/sounds/ghani0.html for the original interview.

I am an old reader of the poetry of great pashto poet Ghani Khan and that is why I am so happy to see this site> I hope and pray that very soon I will see his poetry and other collection. I appreciate the pioneers of this site as they are introducing the most ignored poet and philosopher of our time.

  8. lailoma / Sep 10 2006 9:08 pm

i am like all the other pathans very happy for the setting up of this website. it is one other step taken in marking our identity in the world. i was hoping to find paintings of ghani khan which are still not on the website to my disappointment.
i would also like to suggest that english translations should be written under the pashto text for those who can not read pashto.

  9. lailoma / Sep 10 2006 9:13 pm

i am sorry. i just went back to the pages that did not open and found some paintings and translations as wel. but the paintings are very limited and their particulars are not written

Ghani Khan is a celebration of the Pukhtun spirit. Read him or listen to his poems and you will always go with something to wonder and marvel at. I wish to thank you guys for bringing this richly deserved tribute to Ghani khan. I am sure Ghani Khan’s spirit and poems will invigorate the generations of Pushtuns to come.
    I wish you Godspeed!
    Cheers

I was on cloud nine when I looked at this site which offers such good insight into the Ghani khan’s world.Unfortunately,as we all know that Ghani baba is one of the most controversial figures not only in political spheres but also in the realm of literature, nevertheless this site can and hopefully will give information to its readers about ghani baba, information that was somehow effectively kept hidden so that people and admirers may not get it.

  12. Sadeequllah Mohmand / Oct 27 2006 9:22 pm

Well this is a very good move to develop this website about Ghani khan. I am a great fan of Ghani Khan like many other people. We would like to have more information about him and more about his poetry and other works.

I suggest that some of his popular quotes should be put on the website (like he says 1.”Pashtun is not merely a race but, in fact, a state of mind; there is a Pashtun lying inside every man, who at times wakes up and overpowers him”. 2.”The Pashtun, are rain sown wheat-they all came up on the same day they are all the same!… But the chief reason why I love him is because he will wash his face and oil his beard and perfume his locks and put on his best pair of clothes when he goes out to fought and die”. 3. “I want to see my people educated and enlightened. A people with a vision and a strong sense of justice who can carve out a future for themselves, in harmony with nature”. )

  14. Asif Yousafzai / Nov 11 2006 10:59 pm

We should follow the liberalism and secularism of Ghani Khan. We are just listening to his fine poetry but not thinking about his war against mullas and religious extremists.

    Let’s fight against all mythologies.

  15. magickhan / Nov 15 2006 4:02 am

If the Mulla scares me of the hell, Ghani khan makes me love God,
I want to be an athiest when i hear the Mulla, I want to embarce Allah when i hear Ghani khan sing His Praise, Ghani Khan is a sufi in the guise of disguise 🙂 🙂 Ghani reminds me of the spirit of Mansoor and the Prophets, he wants me to tread the path of Pakhtuns…when he hates my mosutache because it stands between my freedom and my ego and wants me to fight a battle for my beloved… I want to shun all the shakles that hold me to the bound and fly with my broken wings in search of myself…I want to love and loose my heart and get bitten and be not shy. I love flowers and birds for now I know i will wither away vanish and not be seen but here now and the present I promise I will make the garden of Eden of My beloved homeland that is called the Pukhtunistan.. Let us make a journey then and show what stuff we are made of. let us not be afraid let us stand for our rights and for our honour…..
as when he asks and replies to his own queries are prayers a virtue or mastee holds the field and is it the making of beauty or is it the worship of beauty that counts… mara beauty is the creation of man and needs a heart that can hold oceans in a droplet… Ghani khan wherever you are and I know you can hear me if God cant bless you I Make a the call for rebellion.

  16. Maverickkhan / Nov 15 2006 5:28 am

Ghani khan belongs to the post modernist epoch of Pukhtuns. When he thinks like we do and clothes our thoughts in simple words, that becomes his genious.
Ghani Khan wants us to move mountains to bring forth the aspirations of our elders. He wants us to love human beings and God in the same spirit. The genius of Khan is that he will outlast his generation and his contemporarties. He is immortal like Homer and Socrates. The best in the Pukhtun can only dawn when we follow the high aspirations. He wants us to live like faqeers and aspire imprisononment to ministries. He wants us to follow Moses quest for the search of God and Jesus hut and not be ashamed of our flaws. he stands for principles because he knows that character outlasts fame and fortune. That’s why he advises us to follow Hussain and not Yazeed and be like Mansoor.
His questioning and his complaints and his geelay from the high powers leads us to think about our frailities. There will always be new interpretations to his poetry, but his essence to think and to reflect and to question God to know why he gave us heart and mind or reason in the same kingdom will always inspire pukhtuns to know what it is that makes the foundations of true faith. And it’s a faith woven in the colours of nature and love not in medieval religiosity. Music and nightingale can lead us to Allah. So does women count for purity and love. A pukhtun always brandishes his sword for the protection of his honour and for winning his prize and his prize is always a female hidden behind veils and the mud walls of land of Roh. Ghani Khan wants us to be lions and to be the custodians of the spirit of Sher Shah and Khushal and that means a life devoted to service and to a death without the travails and fears of becoming dust. Lets embrace a death that leads to immortality fame and glory…. Lets pave the wave the path for truth and true friendship..

(Dedicated to Mashal and Bahram the Inheritors of true legacy of Ghani khan)

I warmly congratulate the whole team of this site who did their best to show Khan’s poetry to the public. His great pushto poetry is now being sung by great singers like Takkar, Gulzar Alam and many more.

Cheers. I do not know what people think about Ghani Khan in many aspects, but I know one thing for sure: that I trust his words and he is more meaningful than people can imagine, specially his anti-mullah stance. I support his ideas about how life and love should be. He was born in a very wrong country, but did his poetry for a perfect language. He should be considered not at the level of prophet, but somewhere close to it. God bless him. Thanks a lot for creating breathing space on the web for followers of GHANI KHAN.

I was working on producing a music CD with unique style of Ghani Khan’s poetry. It was my desire since I was a student in Edwards Collage to work on Ghani Khan’s poetry. His verses kept me dancing on thousand tongues of flames and his concepts kept on rushing with my blood toward my heart with his sweet taste of wine. Now I have done it. The CD will be in the market within two weeks.

    Salaam,

Well, first of all I would like to thank the owner on making such a website on the great Ghani Khan. We pukhtoon people have so many heroes who have not had any exposure. We know them, but other people don’t. That’s why our younger generation is also forgetting these heroes. We should all contribute toward maintaining their reputation, and show them to the rest of the world as well.

About Ghani Khan, I will only like to say these words: if we were allowed to worship a human being, then Ghani Khan is the person whom I would worship…

    Regards,

    Hamid Khattak

Excellent to know about launching of this website. Thank you for this great contribution.

His poetry is one of the few things that gives us an image of life in broader sense.

Ghani Khan’s thoughts had no bounds. Whether it was loyalty to his homeland or love for his mortal fellow beings or Allah.

If you conclude his poetry, its all about love. He touched on subtle issues that shape our lives with supreme honesty, however it was the immense potential of fearless love and honesty, ridicule of his own mistakes as well as people’s mistakes irrespective of their position and relation towards him that drove his aspirations eventually towards sufi-ism( to my own feeble understanding).

We still have a lot to learn from his poetry, though after understanding it, so as to realize our shortcommings as a nation.

I hope we all should study his poetry not for enjoyment but to learn to leave a better future for those who follow us.

Ghani has played that role to quite a big extent during his life.

May his soul rest in peace.

    some great pictures as well.

    best regards and thank you.
